What is Havening?

A psycho sensory therapy that helps people identify the root causes of their issues and rewires their response so that they can release issues like stress, trauma and anxiety.
Havening is based on neuroscience and is all about training the brain to respond differently to the issue.
For some people their brain has become stuck in a pattern of high alert around certain circumstances and situations.
And these situations will trigger off, what can seem like, disproportional responses.
I break this pattern by using Havening Touch © to create healing delta waves. It is gentle, efficient and often rapid and has no negative side effects. Delta waves are brain waves that are mainly present during Non- REM sleep- a time of replenishment and reorganisation of the brain.
In the session we use Havening Touch to create the change. When we do that an electrical chemical response occurs which essentially sends a reassurance signal to the brain to alter the mind-body connection. This technique switches off the brain’s ‘alarm’ button associated with a particular stored trauma preventing future unhelpful responses. Havening is simple, safe and highly effective.

Havening was developed by Dr Ron Ruden, MD in collaboration with his brother, Dr Steve Ruden, who are based in New York running private medical and dental practices respectively.
Dr Ron Ruden has studied neuroscience for 20+ years and is a published author on trauma and addictions. A key focus for Dr Ron Ruden has been on treating trauma and other amygdala-based issues and the result of his ground-breaking research and work is Havening Techniques. A set of simple and yet powerful techniques that are now being taught all over the world.
Havening Techniques® are designed to help people to let go of stress, trauma and anxiety, so they can be free to the live the life they want. Effectively to find their safe haven.
Although the Havening Techniques appear to have promising emotional, mental, and physical health benefits, they have yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities and therefore may be considered experimental. The Havening Techniques are self-regulated and they are considered alternative methods in the United States.
